Olm files archive all the data and information from Mac
Outlook. You can also set Outlook up for periodic automatic archive using Time
Machine. This file is used primarily for keeping a back up in computer and
freeing up space from the servers. It can also be used to restore damaged data.
There is, however, one problem with Olm file when it comes
to data migration. It's not supported in Windows Outlook. Therefore, if you
want to transfer data from Mac Outlook to Windows Outlook, you can't
import Olm files directly. Windows Outlook won't read it.
This also creates a situation when some contacts are shared
in an Olm file via email or other means, and the person receiving the file
doesn't have Mac to open it.
